When robot production ramps, actuator lead time becomes the bottleneck. A supplier that was fine for prototypes can stall a production line. OEMs look for a second source that can commit to volume schedules.
A price that worked at hundreds of units hurts at tens of thousands. Per-unit actuator cost flows straight to bill-of-materials and margin, so OEMs benchmark alternatives once volume justifies it.
Cleaning robots evolve quickly — new chassis, new IP requirements, new mounting. OEMs need a supplier who turns around custom force/stroke/mounting changes fast, not one with a rigid catalog.
Switching suppliers only saves time if the new actuator drops into the existing design. That requires matching two things.
A drop-in replacement must match the original's force rating, stroke length and mounting interface (clevis, threaded rod or bracket) so no chassis redesign is needed. Confirm dynamic load, full travel and mounting geometry against your current part.
Modern cleaning robots run closed-loop control. A true drop-in must match the feedback type and control signal — typically Hall-effect position feedback driven by a PWM or PLC controller (jederoo.com FAQ) — so your existing controller and firmware work unchanged.
